With a double gameweek for Manchester United very likely in GW22 followed by a double gameweek in GW23 for Manchester City – could either week be worthy of a triple captain play?
The two standout players are of course Rashford in #GW22 and Haaland in #GW23 and both have been in scintillating form since the restart. In fact they have both scored 46 points in the last 5 gameweeks.
🇳🇴 Haaland
Haaland is nothing short of a phenomenon. Registering 20 shots in the box and scoring 7 goals in the process. The City midfield are beginning to find his runs and positioning which has meant he had 39 touches in the box.
So far he has been a nailed on starter but with Pep always comes the risk of rotation. The double gameweek sees City host Aston Villa on the Sunday then they travel to Arsenal just three days later. There is a chance Haaland could therefore start from the bench against Villa or have his minutes limited. That said I would still expect him to score.
🏴 Rashford was electric during the World Cup ,though Southgate didn’t fancy the Man United winger. Since the return he has continued this form and scored 5 goals after registering 36 touches in the box. Playing with confidence he is arguably Man United’s best player. (Leads the team for attacking returns).
Should the double gameweek 22 go ahead, the fixtures are also very attractive. Home games against Crystal Palace followed by Leeds 4 days later; Combined, they have shipped 61 goals between them.
🍟 🍟 🍟 The Triple captain chip is a tough call. I would expect both players to score well, and worth noting as Rashford is a midfielder he gets 5 points per goal and not 4, plus a point for a clean sheet. That could make a big difference tripled up (3 points for each clean sheet and 15 points for each goal sounds very tempting!)
