Gameweek 32 Preview ; Fixtures Focus : Liverpool
3 min read🗓 Fixtures Focus : Liverpool
After Liverpool´s recent emphatic 6-1 win against Leeds away it is difficult not to get tempted to bring in Liverpool assets for the end-of-season run-in. Let us take a look at the popular options and why you should probably avoid the unpopular picks.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.4m) has seemingly moved into midfield since the second-half of the Arsenal game, taking up positions on the right half-space of the final third, almost replicating KDB`s role at Man City. He has provided 3 assists in these 135 min of midfield play, proving once again he still has the creative threat that had made him a staple in FPL over the past few seasons.
Against Leeds he notched 2 assists and 1 Bonus Point to an overall score of 9 points, but the way he achieved them was impressive. TAA won the possession back in midfield and made a second man run into the box to square it to Gakpo for the opener, whilst playing a smart through ball for Nunez to finish for the 6th goal. We have been used to Trent crossing the ball from wide areas or pinging long balls on the counter from his own third to assist his teammates, making him a more reliable Goal Involvement threat.
You can slot in TAA for Trippier who has a more difficult run of games coming up and his form dipping since Gameweek 22 (1 CS, 2 A in 10 games).
Other defensive options for Liverpool as not as attractive as Trent, with Van Dijk not playing well recently, Konate being too inconsistent, Robertson not being involved too often in offensive play and squandering many Chances to return points. If you have Alisson already it is a good idea to double up and bring in Trent, but in my opinion the options in MID are more attractive.
A must have because of the price point and his role as the central attacker is Cody Gakpo (7.6m) in MID. He scored 10 FPL points against Leeds with a goal 6 an assist after a difficult spell since his season-high 14 points against Man United. He linked up the attack very well for Liverpool which means he is vital for the team and will play most of the minutes.

Jota and Nunez are both listed as FWD and cost 8.7m which makes them unattractive with Haaland and Watkins taking 2 of the 3 options upfront and Jesus, Solanke being more nailed on to play most of their teams minutes at lower prices. With Luis Diaz coming back from injury, the minutes for Jota and Nunez might also take a hit. If you are on a Free Hit for GW32 you might consider taking a punt on Jota if you were impressed with his performance at Leeds.
And then there was Salah. The highest scoring MID needs to be a staple in your team and you wont need any further convincing if you have seen his performances as of late. If you must sell Kane to free up funds, you must not fear to do so, as you can get many returns from other striking options like Gabriel Jesus, whereas there are no other MID who will match Salah´s tally with these easy fixtures coming up.
