🟦 Squaring the Reece James Circle 🔵

🤷🏼‍♂️What to do as a Reece James owner❓
🎲 Those of us who rolled the dice on 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Reece James now have a decision to make as the gamble on his fitness and high points ceiling didn’t pay off. So be it. We went into that deal with the full knowledge 🧠 this scenario was entirely possible. Such is life 💙
🤷🏼‍♂️ Many will just give you the quick, lazy answer – ‘Sell him immediately’. 67,000 have done so already at the time of writing (Wednesday 9am) 🕘

🧠 My immediate thoughts 💭 are to consider the following 4 main options:
1️⃣ Bench him for GW18 (most will be able to play a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Ben White type like I can do) and reassess ahead of DGW19…

2️⃣ Cut your losses and sell him ahead of GW18 (but after GW17 has finished) for a comparable price point player – a 🇪🇸Cucurella type (meh…but gives you a fairly reliable route into the DGW…which includes a game against Man City remember) or a 🇧🇷Gabriel type if you don’t already have a Arsenal defender.

3️⃣ Switch for a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Robbo type if you’ve got money in the bank to go up a price point. I’ve got £2.2m itb so have got that option albeit I’d like to spend it down the line in midfield ideally I think. Liverpool’s lack of cleansheets remains a concern too.

4️⃣ Take the opportunity to go down a price point – say to a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Ben White if you don’t have him…or a 🇪🇨Esputinan type (perhaps Brighton’s DGW will be confirmed if you wait a few days)…or to a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Kyle Walker type if you don’t have Man City defensive coverage.
There are 2 main benefits if you go for an Option that includes waiting until DGW19 to make your decision…

1️⃣ Reece James may still make the DGW depending on the press conference 🎙️updates (unlikely and even if he does you’d think his mins will be managed…I do accept that he’s very probably a sell now as can’t be trusted for fitness or mins).

2️⃣ You’ll get the power of 2 free transfers either way.
This latter point (ie having 2 free transfers in a GW) is one of the most underrated and underutilised skills & approaches in the entire game IMO. The majority of managers seem to be incapable of rolling a transfer so never get the benefit of 2 frees or a self generated ‘Mini Wildcard’ of 3 transfers for a -4pt hit 🥊
🛏️ What you definitely don’t have to do is 💩sh*t the bed and panic transfer him out before GW17 has even finished‼️Something could easily happen in the Leeds v Man City game tonight that affects you thinking and your monetary options even if you do get rid of him before GW18 🧠.

💷 Even if your budget is extremely tight for a planned move you have in mind, no prices are changing between now and 1am UK time on Thursday anyway now. It’s therefore really daft to make a transfer today before the Leeds v Man City game has taken place. Zero logic to doing so at all. 😞 I feel sorry for the lad…a superb player but seems like a classic case of one injury leading to another. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Chilwell and 🇫🇷Fofana seem to be in the same boat 🚤 . Others at different clubs too.

✍️ EDIT: sounds like he may be out for 3 or 4 weeks judging from reports coming out 2pm ish on Wednesday UK time.
