Double figures from both of our key captain choices last time around means there’s no reason for dramatic changes this time. It’s another quick turnaround – this week we present to you, Haaland, Salah and our differential choice, Kane.
Haaland (Villa (A)) (75% ownership) – a 7% climb in ownership this week – he could soon be on track to overtake Jesus. Incredible start to the season with 9 goals in 5 games. The top scorer in FPL by 20 (!) points. Every stat points to him getting plenty more. Playing in the perfect (FPL wise) position for the best attacking team in the league. Comes up against a Villa side who are second bottom with 9 goals conceded in 5 games. Will
He start – who knows? Pep said: He’s 22. Recovers well. When he’s 32, more difficult. 22, not a problem… Which directly contradicts his previous comments. In reality we don’t have a clue (and it’s a risk you have to take of you give him the armband) but it didn’t take him long to score a hat trick last week so even off the bench he’s a threat.
Salah (Everton (A)) – 53% ownership – Poor Salah can hit 10 points and still drop in ownership. Have seen the arguments about him playing more out wide etc. important to remember that Salah only gets 1 less point for an assist than Haaland gets for a goal, and benefits from extra goal/CS points vs strikers too. Incredible historical record vs Everton. As nailed as it comes to start. Averaging 7pts a game thus far to be the 4th highest scoring player overall. Still a top tier captaincy option, and arguably ‘safer’ than Haaland in terms of rotation.
H Kane (Fulham (H) (17% ownership) – Gone somewhat under the radar with 4 attacking returns and 6 bonus points in his last 4 games. Top scoring forward in FPL last season, continues to bang them in. Just one point behind Jesus this time round. On pens. Home fixture against a promoted club who have only kept one CS this season. Overlook at your peril – his low ownership is more a function of Haaland’s ridiculous form and Jesus’ price point than it is Kane being a bad option.
