It’s back! 🥳 After a break for a totally uneventful World 🌎 Cup 🏆 (with a well-functioning fantasy football game… 🤣) we’re back to FPL. Players who you may have forgotten even existed 😵‍💫 should now be back on your radar. This week, we present 🎁 to you: Haaland, Salah, and our differential pick, Bruno Fernandes. 

 

 

E Haaland 👑 (Leeds (A) (84% ownership) – while some players were at the World 🌎 Cup 🏆, others were in the U.K. firing shot after shot past Scott Carson 🥅. Yes, everyone’s favourite Norwegian 🇳🇴is back. In case you’ve forgotten, Haaland is on 18 goals and 3 assists in 13 PL appearances 🤯. That means he’s theoretically on track for 50+ goals this season 😱. Up against one of the worst defences in the league at Leeds. Didn’t play at the WC, so should be fit 🩻, although a word of warning that weirdly, Pep has hinted at a lack of match fitness for those who didn’t go 🤷‍♂️. Would still personally expect him to start – KDB a credible alternative. 

 

 

M Salah 🇪🇬 (Aston Villa (A) (33% ownership) – another player who didn’t feature in the World 🌎 Cup 🏆 so should be raring to go. Somewhat maligned this season, but at 0.58 xG/90 and 0.20 xA/90 he still has one of the best sets of underlying stats in the league ✅✅✅. Injuries 🤕 to other Liverpool attackers also potentially help him out too. Comes up against a Villa side who have conceded 6 goals ⚽️ in their previous 3 PL games. Still a good shout (with Darwin a credible alternative). 

 

 

B Fernandes (Nottingham Forest (H) (3% ownership) – Man Utd already looked to have turned a corner in terms of form pre World 🌍 Cup 🏆 and with the pervasive influence of Ronaldo gone 👋, should be well placed. This should also mean Bruno Fernandes gets back his penalty 🥅 duties – while I wouldn’t be totally convinced he goes back to being the same FPL asset he was in 2020 ⭐️, he’s still a very good option. Comes up against the third worst defence in the league with Nottingham Forest 🌳 in a plum home fixture. Nice differential 👍 in terms of ownership too.
