FPL 2022/23 ; Gameweek 1 Review ; Budget Picks :
• Danny Ward £4.0 (Leicester City): The departure of Kasper Schmicel, was a gift for all FPL managers, as the 4.0m Danny Ward has emerged as Leicester’s first choice GK. With Brendan Rodgers confirming he will not be signing another GK this transfer window, Ward is a no-brainer option right now apart from his ability to keep a clean sheet or not!
• Neco Willimas £4.0 (Nottingham Forest): Despite a disastrous start to their PL campaign , Nottingham forest’s out of position Williams played as a wing back in 3-4-3 formation & needs to be monitored over the coming weeks, the welsh man has registered 1 shot & 1 attempted assist in GW1.
• Nathan Patterson £4.0 (Everton): The young Scot who featured in all 3 pre-season friendlies has started GW1 vs Chelsea in the absence of Seamus Coleman, though he didn’t offer any attacking threat & failed to keep a clean sheet as well, keep an eye for the injury news, since I believe Coleman is nearing a return from injury, Patterson is a don’t buy-don’t sell category for me at the moment!
• Yan Valery £4.0 (Southampton): was substituted in half time after a wretched display vs Spurs, I don’t recommend him really! AVOID
• Josh DaSilva £4.5 (Brentford): of all six mid-fielders who featured in GW1 & priced £4.5m, DaSilva has had the most eye catching performance in just 31 minutes of play- scoring a wonderful goal & was on set pieces duties as well, he is a one to monitor for the coming weeks!
• Other (£4.5) Mid-fielders: The most owned player for this Price Category is Fulham’s Andreas Pereira was amazing against Liverpool , we can expect more than 2 weekly points from him as he is playing in an advanced role & is on set-piece duties.
It’s worth noting that Fulham’s Reed, Southampton’s Lavia & Nottingham’s Colback have all played the full 90 minutes with no real fpl impact!
• (£4.5) forwards: Only three £4.5 priced forwards (Halil Dervişoğlu, Cameroon Archer & Sam Greenwood) have had game time during GW1, but it’s worth noting that they all started from bench lasting just between 5 & 17 minutes at the end of each game, I believe That Aston Villa’s Archer is the best among the three of them !
Which budget players do you own in your team ?
