FPL 2022/23 : Gameweek 3 – Captain Picks
Once again, 2 out of 3 returners from our picks last week ain’t bad – with our differential choice KDB the standout at 14 points.
This week we present to you: Salah, Jesus, & our differential choice, Vardy.
Salah (Man Utd (A)) (61% ownership) – Still the best asset in FPL and the most reliable captaincy option. 2 full games under his belt, 1 goal, 1 assist thus far, on pens. Firmino likely playing instead of Nunez should help him too. Comes up against a Man Utd side who are rock bottom of the table having conceded 6 goals in 2 games with a disastrous start to the season. 5 goals and 2 assists against Utd in the league last season. Our top choice this week
Jesus (Bournemouth (A)) (80%! Ownership) – the most owned player in FPL history at 80%. Top for shots, shots in the box, shots on target and much more this season. Took apart Leicester with 2 goals, 2 assists last week. Up against newly promoted Bournemouth who just conceded 4 against Man City. A very solid option – not an easy decision this week.
Vardy (Southampton (H)) (4% ownership) – In his last 7 seasons in the PL Vardy has never failed to score 13 goals, averaging 18 per year. Yet to get off the mark this season but did get an assist in GW1. Nailed starter, on pens. Comes up against a Southampton side who have conceded 6 in the opening 2 GWs (and they weren’t much better last season) whereas Leicester have scored 2 goals a game. Maddison a viable alternative too.
* I imagine a few people may mention Haaland in the comments here. He’s a great option, but Newcastle are a tough team to break down, so would expect Salah/Jesus to do slightly better – but anything is possible, and they’re all top quality players.
Our top pick for this week is Mo Salah!
Who will your #GW3 captain be?
Good luck everyone!
