Gameweek 10 Captaincy:
An average of >15 points from our 3 captaincy picks last week, with all three options returning (yes, we’re counting Salah’s assist as a return). This week is a tough one for the captaincy. For GW10, we present to you Erling Haaland, Haaling Erland, and our differential pick, Maddison
Erling Haaland (Southampton (Home)) (83% ownership) – Somehow still the most transferred in forward this week – not sure where the 200k accounts who transferred him in have been this season. Delivered a season high 23 points last week with 3 goals and 2 assists against Man United – imagine what he’ll do against Southampton (who most recently have failed to keep clean sheets against such attacking powerhouses as Wolves, Villa and Everton). Breaking every record under the sun. Effective ownership likely to be through the roof (so even if he doesn’t return, unlikely to impact you much). The obvious captaincy choice by far
Haaling Erland – (Southampton (Home)) (83% ownership) – the only real alternative captaincy choice. 14 goals in 7 PL games – top goal scorer in the league, and currently on track for 76 this season. Incredibly, also joint 4th for assists with 3 so far this season. Came off early in European fixture so a shoo in to start. Up against a Southampton team who have conceded 1.6 goals a game so far this season. Only the 14th player to receive 10/10 in a game from L’Equipe after an incredible performance last week. Yet to blank from an FPL perspective this season. Tough to choose between this and our first choice but I’m confident you can do it
Maddison (Bournemouth (Away) (15% ownership) – Had a great week last week with 18 points (albeit not quite as many as Haaland. Coming up against a Bournemouth side with the third highest goals conceded in the league. On some set pieces, returned in 5/7 played games this season, shoo-in to start. If you really, really, don’t want to captain Haaland, could be an option.
